Rare Skin Disorder

The Skin is one of the most important and valuable organs of the human body. It is the largest organ and it protects all the other internal organs in the body. Apart from this, it also has other vital functions that it performs in order for the body to remain healthy. Therefore it is very essential that the skin is protected and looked after carefully. Everyone loves to have a glowing ‘peaches and cream’ kind of complexion. Though some are blessed with this, others are not so lucky. But with a little extra care, your skin can look better than it normally does.

Ever woken up to a face full of acne and blemishes and wondered whether the scars would go away or even fade? Well I’m sure all of us in our lifetime would have had some kind of a skin disorder regardless of it being major or a minor one. Most skin disorders though not life threatening, can be very uncomfortable and since the skin is clearly visible, it can lead to psychological and emotional stress for the person suffering from the skin disorder.

Our site gives a lot of insight regarding the different types of skin disorders including the rare ones and also offers suggestions for treatment and cure. So be sure to go though the links provided for you. It can be very helpful especially if you are or know someone who is currently suffering from any of these skin disorders. We will discuss a few of them briefly to give you an overview and whet your appetite for more information on the topic.

Scabies is one of the common skin infections that you will come across, the symptoms being severe itching of the skin which increases after a hot shower. It appears as small reddish bumps and mostly occurs on the hands and feet though it can appear in other areas as well. This condition should be treated by a qualified doctor and once proper medication is given, the symptoms should start disappearing after 24- 48 hours.

Another commonly found disorder is a condition called Psoriasis which is an auto-immune disease. Here, the skin becomes patchy with white scales combined with severe itching. Mostly occurs on the elbows, knees and scalp. Currently, there is no complete cure found for this disorder though there are medicines to minimize the itching and reduce the scales that are formed.

Vitiligo is yet another skin disorder where the skin suddenly develops white spots or patches on different parts of the body. These patches are more pronounced in areas that are exposed to the sun. There are different lines of treatment available but not everyone will respond the same way to the treatment given. Hence doctors normally use a trial and error method to check which line of treatment is most effective for individual patients and continue with the one they respond to best.

Some of these disorders are genetic while others are contracted from people infected with the same. While we cannot lessen the risk of genetically contracted skin diseases, others can be avoided by taking extra precautions and being careful about hygiene.
