Make sure you get enough water every day. 2 liters of clear mineral water a day is a good amount to shoot for. You will want to avoid becoming dehydrated, since this can cause your skin to retain dead cells, which can block the pores and lead to acne.

You may have noticed that you get more pimples when you are taking antibiotics. This is because these medications upset the delicate balance of bacteria in your digestive system. This can lead to a number of effects such as impaired digestion, constipation, and a reduced ability of the body to absorb nutrients properly. All of these conditions can result in the waste substances from your body being expelled through the skin. These in turn can cause your pores to become blocked, again possibly resulting in pimples. If you're taking antibiotics, it may be a good idea to include a good probiotic product into your daily regimen.

Prebiotics are also worth looking into, for their ability to maintain the balance of good bacteria in the system. Among the most beneficial foods in this regard are honey, onions, and bananas. In fact, taking a probiotic supplement along with a healthy amount of prebiotic foods can counteract many of the negative effects of taking antibiotics.
